My favorite Alpha Hydroxy Acid that I have ever tried is the Mizon AHA 8% Peeling Serum.  Alpha Hydroxy Acid is generally for people with normal to dry or dry skin.  To learn more about exfoliators, click HERE.  It is a gentle daily exfoliating product for me that I use in the morning.  I absolutely love chemical exfoliating.  I have found that physical exfoliating is too harsh for my skin.  If you are sensitive, and you want to start this product you might try introducing this every 2-3 days.  The Mizon 8% AHA has a pH between 3.83 and 3.89 which within a good range for an AHA.  The key ingredient in the Mizon AHA 8% peeling serum is Glycolic Acid.   I list all the ingredients below, as you can see, Glycolic is listed as the second ingredient.  The consistency is not a water but not quite as thick as a gel. It’s a lightweight gel. Warning: an AHA will make your skin more sensitive to sun, so wear an SPF.

Here’s how to use:

  • As you unscrew the top, the dispenser button pops up and fills the dropper with product.
  • Place one full dropper in the palm of your hand.
  • Place the product on your face

Here are the ingredients:

Aqua, glycolic acid, potassium hydroxide, butylene glycol, propylene glycol, sodium lactate, hydroxyethylcellulose, sodium hyaluronate, peg-60 hydrogenated castor oil, panthenol, allantoin, aloe barbadensis leaf extract, portulaca oleracea extract, carica papaya (papaya) fruit extract, arnica montana flower extract, artemisia absinthium extract, achillea millefolium extract, gentiana lutea root extract, alcohol, polyquaternium-10, disodium edta, methylparaben, propylparaben, fragrance

As with any new product, you should patch test for sensitivity before applying it to your entire face.  Irritation to an acid could be redness, itching, or burning.  If you experience any of this, stop and give your skin a few days and try again.  As your skin becomes accustomed to the acid, you can use it more often.  Up to once a day.

Purging can occur with your skin when you begin an acid.  Purging is when a spot that had pore blockage is exfoliated and allows the blockage out resulting in a breakout.  Purging could take up to 4 weeks.  If purging occurs longer than 4 weeks the breakout might be the result of something else.

If you buy it on the site that is linked to any of these pictures You will get $5 off and I will get 5% of your sale.  Not much for me but that’s a good deal for you!  Currently it is priced at $21.18.  Let me know if you love it too.
