New Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude Cushion Stick Radiant Makeup

IMG_1316 (2)

I have recently tried the New Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude Cushion Stick Radiant Makeup.  Many of you have heard or tried Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation.  The original Double Wear is a holy grail formula for MANY people.  This new version is a bit different not only in the packaging but in the product as well.

What I love about the new Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude Cushion Stick Radiant Makeup:

  • Portability factor.  This could easily be dropped in your handbag, gym bag or over night bag.
  • Simplicity.  Because the cushion is built into the packaging of this foundation you don’t need a brush.  It is Makeup + Pro Tool in One.
  • 8 hour wear. Who has time to touch up their foundation mid day?  This will last the entire workday.
  • Hydrating. This is a very comfortable, natural formula.

Here’s my personal feedback from trying this foundation for a few days.  I was concerned that too much product would come out of the cushion.  It was very easy to control the exact amount.  I also was apprehensive that the cushion would provide smooth, streak-free application.  I actually was prepared to buff the foundation with a brush after application.  I looked closely in my lit, magnified mirror(Superhuman) and NO STREAKS!  This little cushion provided perfect application.  I also learned it is a buildable coverage.  If you want to look natural you can.  If you want more coverage just build.  The finish was very natural not matte.  I LOVE THIS FORMULA.  I also love the packaging!

What’s the difference between the original and this new formula??

COVERAGE: Original is Medium/ Buildable, New formula is Sheer- Med/Buildable

LONG-WEAR:  Original 15 hours, New formula 8 hours

FINISH: Original is Semi -Matte, New formula is Radiant

Both are great formulas.  I will keep both in my foundation drawer for different occasions.

Would I buy it again?  YES

Would I recommend it?  YES

Estee Lauder Double Wear Mascara- REVIEW- Mascara Series

Estee Lauder Doublewear Zero-Smudge Lengthening Mascara

The next mascara in the Mascara Series is the Estee Lauder Doublewear Zero-Smudge Lengthening Mascara.  Could a mascara have a longer name???  I consider this mascara an oldie but goody.  It’s  is a fast drying mascara, which is good if you have an issue with mascara smudging on your eyelids.  It is a tubular mascara so it is water resistant not waterproof.  Basically, the mascara unlocks with warm water.  So you can swim in it but you can’t hot tub in it.  I love to say that by the way.  A tubular mascara is great for anyone with sensitive eyes or contact wears they don’t flake or smudge.  The other benefit of a tubular mascara is that it wraps the lash to create length.  I know I say this a lot but I LOVE this mascara for days there might be water around.

Here is what Estee Lauder says about the Double Wear Mascara:

15-hour staying power. Long lashes that last. Zero smudge.

You’ll love its extreme wear, extraordinary length and unstoppable power. Now the expertly separated, smudge-free lash look you see in the morning is the look you keep all day.

The Smudge-Shield™* formula with innovative polymers locks in the mascara to keep it on lashes and off you. Resists high temperatures, high humidity and perspiration.

Micro-fiber bristles go deep into lash bed to comb and detangle lashes for super separation from root to tip. Lashes channel through the brush’s saturated core for a rich coating of pigment.

Incase you are just joining the blog.  I am in the middle of a Mascara Series.  I’m looking at each mascara then I will compare each one at the end.

Here are the previous mascara’s discussed(in no particular order):

Estée Lauder Little Black Primer-REVIEW

Estee Lauder introduced the Little Black Primer this year.

This is a very interesting product with 3 benefits.  The claims are that the Little Black Primer will tint, amplify and set your lashes.

TINT- Estee Lauder’s original Lash Primer was white so it couldn’t be worn alone.  This new version is black so it could stand alone as a mascara.

AMPLIFY- the Little Black primer can and should be used as a base for your other mascara.

SET- Brush over mascara to make your favorite mascara water resistant, preventing flaking and smudging.  Do you know the difference in waterproof and water resistant?  I like to think of it this way; waterproof you can swim in, water resistant you can walk through the rain.  This is a great plus that you can use this product to set your favorite mascara to become water resistant. Also great for anyone that experiences the frustration of smudging.

Here is my personal review:DSC_4674

This has a very little brush.  The benefit is it can grab even the smallest of lashes.  If you are using this as a tint, I think it’s a great product.  The first coat of this is pretty separating.

Here’s a picture of me using the Little Black Primer on the eye to the left.  This is one very light coat.  I would suggest applying a thicker coat or more coats.

Now you can see what happens when both eyes have mascara.  Even with a very light coat of Little Black Primer you can absolutely see the difference.

Now the part I was most excited about was the ability to make your mascara water resistant.  Well, I learned that your mascara needs to be completely dry. If your mascara isn’t completely dry then you might experience what I experienced.  CLUMPING.  When I tried it again and allowed my mascara was dry then clumping didn’t occur. DSC_4671

Foundation Brushes -different shapes and how to use them

DSC_4030 With so many foundation brushes where do you start?  Which one  do you buy?  I actually switch what my favorite brush is quite often.  I like each brush for different reasons.  I don’t own every type of foundation brush so I’d love to see your favorite.  DSC_4044 Let’s start with what I’m going to call a traditional brush.  It is flat and the top is rounded.  To use this brush, I typically put some foundation on the back of my hand and get some product on the brush.  To use this brush mimic how you would use a paintbrush with long downward strokes.  The reason you take the brush in a downward motion is so you don’t lift any hair on the face. You will most likely see some streaks.  Now take the brush and lay the bristles on your face and pat the face and the streaks are GONE.

The Duo Fiber Style Brush.  The benefit is you don’t need much foundation.  You can apply the product in a DSC_4043gentle circular motion.  The motion should be moving the brush but your face should not be moving much.  You might try and apply the foundation on the face and then use the circular motion with this brush.  If you have normal or oily skin you will really love this brush. For Dry skin you can see some cakiness with the circular motion with this brush.  One tip to avoid the cakey look is to use a spray like the Smashbox Primer Water or Mac Fix Plus on the face.  Then apply primer.  Spray the face again and also spray the brush.  This brush will give you light coverage.

This is a Flat Top Kabuki brush.  This will provide a full coverage.  You use this the DSC_4042same way as the duo fiber in a circular motion.  Some people also stipple the foundation with this brush. Really nice with a powder or cream to powder finish.

DSC_4040 DSC_4036These are considered buffing brushes.  The one with a gold handle is the low end version but the results are similar.  Again, these can be used in a circular motion or with the stippling method.  These are great to help push product into large pores, basically filling the large pores. These will provide a flawless finish. Medium to complete coverage.

The Beauty Blender.  Yes, not a brush but DSC_4048I couldn’t leave it out. Get this completely wet and then squeeze out the excess water.  Use this damp.  I apply the foundation to the back of the hand then press the sponge into the product. Then bounce the fat end of the Beauty Blender on the face. Gently tapping on the face.  The pointy end is good for working with your concealer around the eye.  This will provide a light coverage.

These aren’t the only shapes of foundation brushes but they are a good sampling.  The brands featured in this post range from Mac Cosmetics, Estee Lauder, Sigma, Real Techniques, IT Cosmetics and Beauty Blender.  If you want to try something new, the Real Techniques brush is great to experiment with.  This company makes a variety of brushes to choose from.  They are good quality for the price and I would say play with  those and then invest when you fall in love with a specific shape or shapes. There are many other brushes not in this review. Different brands.  Different shapes. These are the “normal” shaped tools.
